Математика різноманітна. Пізнавати її можемо, читаючи профільну літературу, розв’язуючи рівняння та задачі, під час експериментів, а також у Музеї математики «Кубоїд», що в Києві за адресою: проспект Академіка Глушкова, 1, павільйон № 3, ВДНГ. Це сучасний інтерактивний простір, де діти та дорослі можуть розкривати таємниці математики через гру, дослідження і взаємодію з експонатами. Мета музею — популяризувати математику в суспільстві, зацікавити нею, заохотити до власних досліджень та підвищити престиж математичної освіти.

Які освітні програми пропонує музей?

«Математика давніх цивілізацій» — інтерактивне заняття, яке занурює учасників у математику давнини. Вони знайомляться із системами числення Стародавнього Єгипту, Вавилону, Китаю та Америки. Досліджують, як математика вплинула на розвиток суспільства та культури.

«Цікавий Фібоначчі» знайомить школярів з однією з найвідоміших числових закономірностей у математиці та демонструє, як вона проявляється у природі, архітектурі та мистецтві. Учасники досліджують математичні структури навколо себе та відкривають зв’язок між числами Фібоначчі, природними формами і творами світової культури.

«Математика в музиці» відкриває для учнів несподівані зв’язки між математикою та мистецтвом звуку. Під час заняття буде нагода дослідити ритм, пропорції, гармонію та структуру музичного твору. Відвідувачі розкриють для себе міждисциплінарність математики і її важливість у різних сферах людської діяльності.

Найпопулярніший серед школярів — квест «#МатематикаВсюди». Тут потрібно досліджувати музейний простір у командах та виконувати завдання. Учасники навчаються граючись, розвивають комунікативні навички та застосовують свої знання з математики у практичних ситуаціях. 

Хто може долучитися та як це зробити?

Інтерактивно-тематичні заняття Музею математики «Кубоїд» спрямовані на школярів різного віку — від 3 до 11 класу. Але можуть бути цікавими і для ширшої аудиторії — зміст програми експерти адаптують відповідно до віку учасників.

Чи можна долучитися школярам не з Києва?

Освітні програми «Кубоїда» існують також і у форматі пересувних математичних експозицій, доступних школярам з різних регіонів України. Такі заняття відбуваються у громадах, закладах освіти та освітніх просторах. Це дає учням змогу брати участь у дослідженнях та взаємодіяти з експонатами незалежно від того, де вони проживають. 

Особливо актуальний такий формат у часи війни: можна охопити громади, що постраждали від війни, та учнів на прифронтових територіях — освітні програми проводять лише у безпечних просторах з укриттям, а команда Музею математики має навички надання першої медичної допомоги. 

За підтримки ЮНЕСКО Мандрівний музей математики вже побував на Київщині — у Білій Церкві, Боярці та Ірпені, а з березня 2026-го подорожуватиме прифронтовими громадами Сумщини, Чернігівщини та Харківщини. Такі заняття допомагають зменшити освітні втрати учнів, підтримують безперервність навчання та створюють сучасне освітнє середовище для учнів попри всі труднощі. А ще — повертають інтерес до навчання та відчуття залученості у спільний освітній простір.

Долучаючись до інтерактивних занять музею, учні розвивають важливі математичні компетентності: критичне та логічне мислення, просторову уяву, дослідницькі вміння, здатність бачити та застосовувати математичні ідеї в інших сферах науки й життя. Learning Through Play: Educational Opportunities for School Students at the Cuboid Museum of Mathematics

Mathematics is wonderfully diverse. We can explore it by reading specialized literature, solving equations and problems, conducting experiments — and by visiting the Cuboid Museum of Mathematics in Kyiv, located at 1 Akademika Hlushkova Avenue, Pavilion No. 3, Expocenter of Ukraine (VDNH). This modern interactive space invites both children and adults to uncover the secrets of mathematics through play, exploration, and hands-on interaction with exhibits. The museum’s mission is to popularize mathematics in society, spark curiosity about it, encourage independent inquiry, and raise the prestige of mathematical education.

School students can visit the exhibition on their own or together with teachers, parents, or friends. They can also take part in the museum’s educational programs, which help reveal mathematics as a universal language of the world, the foundation of technology, and an essential part of humanity’s cultural heritage. These sessions are interactive, meaning that students can discover mathematical patterns for themselves, investigate mathematical models, and engage directly with the exhibits. This approach makes learning meaningful and exciting while fostering a genuine interest in mathematics.

What educational programs does the museum offer?

“Mathematics of Ancient Civilizations” is an interactive session that immerses participants in the world of ancient mathematics. During the program, they become acquainted with the numeral systems of Ancient Egypt, Babylon, China, and the Americas, while exploring how mathematics shaped the development of society and culture.

“The Fascinating Fibonacci” introduces school students to one of the most famous numerical patterns in mathematics and shows how it appears in nature, architecture, and art. Participants explore mathematical structures in the world around them and discover the connection between Fibonacci numbers, natural forms, and masterpieces of global culture.

“Mathematics in Music” reveals to students the unexpected links between mathematics and the art of sound. During the session, they have the opportunity to explore rhythm, proportions, harmony, and the structure of a musical composition. Visitors discover the interdisciplinary nature of mathematics and its importance across many areas of human activity.

The museum’s most popular program among school students is the #MathIsEverywhere quest. In this team-based activity, participants explore the museum space and complete a series of tasks. They learn through play, develop communication skills, and apply their mathematical knowledge in practical situations.

Who can take part, and how can they join?

The Cuboid Museum of Mathematics’ interactive thematic programs are designed for school students of different ages, from Grade 3 through Grade 11. At the same time, they can also appeal to a wider audience, as the museum’s experts adapt the content of each program to suit the age of the participants.

Can school students outside from Kyiv take part?

Cuboid’s educational programs are also available in the format of traveling mathematics exhibitions, making them accessible to school students in different regions of Ukraine. These sessions take place in local communities, educational institutions, and learning spaces, allowing students to engage in exploration and interact with exhibits regardless of where they live.

This format is especially important in times of war: it makes it possible to reach communities affected by the war and students in frontline areas. The educational programs are conducted only in safe spaces equipped with shelters, and the Museum of Mathematics team is trained in first aid.

With UNESCO’s support, the Traveling Museum of Mathematics has already visited towns in the Kyiv region — Bila Tserkva, Boyarka, and Irpin, and from March 2026 it will continue its journey to frontline communities in the Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions. Programs like these help reduce students’ learning losses, support continuity in education, and create a modern learning environment despite all the challenges. Just as importantly, they restore children’s interest in learning and renew their sense of belonging to a shared educational space.

By taking part in the museum’s interactive sessions, students develop essential mathematical competencies: critical and logical thinking, spatial imagination, research skills, and the ability to recognize and apply mathematical ideas in other fields of science and everyday life. The team-based format also strengthens communication skills, encourages self-awareness, and helps participants find their role within a group.
